Pacific Coast current survey count

All three upcoming classes are full, Full, FULL! We'll keep you posted if we get more added later on in the year.

Time to clean house

You'll see why when you read this month's Critter of the Month, written up by PNW AAT member Mary Jo Adams.

Show me the critter!

Cool Critter Sightings

It's been awhile since we've added to our ongoing list of some of the rarer-seen underwater residents. But this month we've had a couple! Karlista Rickerson and Mary Kelly saw a Longnose Skate (not the Big Skate that's more common). And Dana Davis and Pete Naylor sighted a HUGE Pacific Cod (full grown with a honkin' whisker and all!) It's always a LOT more believable if they get photos, right? So here they are:

One of our very own!

REEF's Volunteer of the Year is the Pacific NW's very own David Jennings. A huge congratulations to him and a big THANK YOU for his work.

Juicy details here

Tip of the Month - Where's my surveys??

It's quite natural in this day and age of instant gratification to expect your surveys to appear online right after you hit the SUBMIT button. However, there's more that happens behind the scenes (accumulating enough for a batch, and human error-checking) before you'll see them show up - and sometimes it takes a few weeks. Note the message in bold on the login page (I know, I know, who actually READS that stuff, right?) :)

Testing, testing, 1..2..3

Laura Tesler and Jeremy Chevalier have been putting their brains in gear - and have both taken and passed their level 5 and 3 tests respectively. WOW! Give 'em a big fishslap on the back for that accomplishment!

View their smiling mugs

The Invasive Tunicate formerly known as ...

Just an FYI - what we've been previously calling Didemnum sp. in the Pacific NW is now officially Didemnum vexillum. Impress your friends. (thanks to AAT member Lorne Curran for the heads up on this one)

Signing off until next month,

- Janna :)
