PNW current survey count
(wow! Washington, you ROCK!)

Happy Spring! Although the vis has been less-than-desirable, the critters are starting to come out of their winter hiding. Washington had a ton of new surveys submitted during April, and we even got some Oregon surveys - which is great! BC also upped their count quite a bit. Keep up the momentum!

A new kind of Buddy List...

I've heard a common request from many of you throughout the NW. We need a list of buddies who do REEF surveys! So, it's high time we revamped the old buddy list and re-created it to be more specific. All the old info has been purged - we're starting over.

Details on how to sign up here

Moving up in the world

April was a busy month for many surveyors who advanced up the experience level ladder in the Pacific NW. Two classes (Yakima and the Oregon Zoo) brought on board many new level 2's. Others took higher level tests and Tom Nicodemus is our new Level 5 AAT member! View their smiling faces here, and a huge fishslap on the back to you all!

Tacoma Dive Expo booth

Thanks to all our volunteers who helped in the booth last month. Valerie Lyttle, Rhoda Green, Stan and Robin Kurowski, Ron and April Theod and Heidi Wilken. If you didn't make it to the show, here's what the booth looked like.

Photos and data from Saltwater SP BBQ Day posted

We had a very large turnout for our REEF BBQ and Survey day of the new reef at Saltwater State Park. Here's a summary of the data that's been turned in so far. (if you have surveys yet to be submitted, please get them in!) Links to photos of the day as well as info on our next BBQ/survey day in June (Port Townsend) are posted here.

May's Critter of the Month

AAT member Valerie Lyttle was kind enough to write up our monthly guessing game. See if you've spotted this critter before...

On your way to fame and fortune (or at least a cool prize)

Heads up amateur photographers! The SeaDoc Society is holding their annual July photo contest for REEF surveyors again this year. Check out the details on SeaDoc's website.
