PNW current survey count

You don't have to be an expert to start surveying. Even if you know only one fish, and you see it on your dive and can positively identify it, you can record it and submit the data.

Swimming the Seas at Saltwater - Saturday!

9/12/2009, 10am - 3pm: Time again for us to head out en masse and survey the new Saltwater State Park artificial reef. A lot of new critters have taken up residence in the 7 months since the reef was put down. Help us track the growth by joining us for a dive or two and a Barbeque. (hey, that rhymes!)

Juicy Details here

Upcoming Classes

Our REEF crew has been busy, and we've got a number of upcoming (free) classes to get your fish geek on! From Vancouver Island BC, to Southern California, to Washington. Since the exact dates aren't quite solidified, we'll send out an email as soon as we know. More info here

San Juan REEF Weekend

Naknek Charters has gone and done it now. In conjunction with the SeaDoc Society, they've combined a FREE Fish/Invertebrate ID class with lodging at Roche Harbor, and stellar diving San Juans style. Late October. Details here.

Back from the Olympic Peninsula

Our Advanced Assessment Team is back from surveying the OCNMS. No vampires were sighted, but we did have a gnome accompany us. More info and lots of pictures here.

Moving up through the ranks

Dave Rintoul has taken and passed the REEF Level 3 test (90 questions on fish and invert ID), as well as submitting his required 25 surveys to make Level 3 critterwatcher in the Pacific NW. Very cool, Dave! You can see his smiling face here

Critter o' the Month

We've got a spineless wonder for you this time around, and Mary Jo Adams of our PNW REEF AAT has compiled all sorts of info for you about this critter. Go on...take a stab at it. What is it?

Face it!

The OFFICIAL REEF Facebook page is HERE. Show your support, post photos, contribute to discussions - as well as get the latest news from the mothership - by becoming a fan. Don't be fooled by imitations!

And our own local Pacific NW Critterwatchers Facebook group is found here.

That's it for now! Happy and safe diving!

- Janna :)
