Why have Survey Dive Days?

  • It encourages people to get out and do surveys
  • Some of the people who took the classes would get out more often if there were organized dives
  • It's fun - it is always nice to dive with other fishwatchers
  • It helps people improve their ID skills by being able to discuss what they've seen with more experienced folks
  • It allows us to obtain a strong sample from individual sites
  • It allows us to focus efforts on particular sites of interest
  • It may help us define the minimum number of surveys for the data to be really useful and the number of surveys at which the statistics stabilize.
