Invertebrate life

IMG3354fx

  • Male Kelp Greenling poses by a red urchin. I had to really sneak up on this guy.
  • Invertebrate life
  • Tiger Rockfish with seastar in background
  • Pigpile of Ochre stars. Husky fans, apparently.
  • Super interesting topography - this part had boulders with cracks in them like mazes or a puzzle.
  • Red Urchin atop the rock reef
  • Northern abalone - this one was small and didn't have a bunch of overgrowth yet.
  • Leafy Hornmouth snails on top of a rock
  • Male Kelp Greenling on top of an overhang
  • Super rare find - and Claude found two of these - Heart Crabs!
  • Not a great shot - but the best I could do: A super rare sight - an adult Yelloweye Rockfish - and this one was SO large! Maybe 2.5 - 3 feet big. So cool to be able to swim alongside this fish for awhile.
  • Juvenile Yelloweye Rockfish!
  • Sunstar and urchins
  • Plumose anemone tucked under a rock
  • Giant barnacles catch food passing by in the current
  • Kelp Perch! (this was seen on one of our dives near Victoria, not at Hornby)
  • Claude found this Plainfin Midshipman
  • A non-shy Tiger Rockfish
  • Painted Greenling
  • Tiger Rockfish peeks out
