At the bottom of the reef, we found this one lone Swimming Anemone in its new home on the reef.

  • Near the base of the reef, about at 80 feet, this lone sunflower star was crawling on the underside of a long piling.
  • Down at 90 feet, where the reef turns into sand, these tubesnouts were schooling. There were hundreds of them.
  • More sunflower star action on the rocks.
  • At the bottom of the reef, we found this one lone Swimming Anemone in its new home on the reef.
  • Working our way back up the reef, we found a cluster of Coonstripe Shrimp.
  • Around 40-50 feet we came across one of the old barge remnants. Georgia inspects.

  • A bit shallower from the barge we found an old mooring block with a large tire next to it.
  • More pilings in about 50 feet of water, with tubesnouts congregating around it.
  • As we worked our way up, we found even more remnants of the old barges, and this one had a Kelp crab perched on top.
  • A stimson (Striped) sunstar on rubble in the shallows.
  • We found this really bizarre patterned Male Kelp Greenling in about 30 feet of water.

  • A Pacific Staghorn Sculpin in the shallows.
  • Showers await when you're done - assuming they're not shut down for the winter like they were when we were here in Feb!
  • This shows the marine chart view of the area. The line that separates blue (shallow) from white (deeper) is the 60 foot demarcation.
  • Saltwater State Park - Google Earth view and approximate location of where new diving reef is going to be constructed. REEF volunteer scuba divers will monitor the artificial reef to see how marine life settles in and around it over time.
