Didemnum vexillum. at Shilshole Bay in Seattle, WA
Two Didemnum patches were found by Rhoda Green near the boat launch north of Shilshole Bay marina in Seattle on the North side of this wall in Sept 2006. The patches are found about 120ft from the start of the pier on the shore. They are in 11 ft Mean Lower Low tide. The rest of the wall as well as the entire south side of this wall had no other Didemnum patches. In March 2007, the patches appear not to have grown much, if at all, in 6 months time. Patch #2 is to the left of Patch #1, on the next panel over on the wall, and up a bit higher. This patch was strange because it was very loose, and didn't appear to be very attached to the wall, unlike Patch #1. Size was about 2 feet in diameter. - Photo by Janna Nichols
